Earn $3 to $100 per task with the Gigwalk app

Heard of Gigwalk but not sure what it is or how to make money with it? Then keep reading; we give you all the details in this in-depth Gigwalk review.

Making money with your smartphone It’s never been easier! With tons of apps catering to the booming world of side gigs, there are plenty of ways you can turn your smartphone into a personal side hustle.

As a stay-at-home mom who just got off work, it seemed like a great opportunity to make a few extra bucks while sleeping! After reading a few reviews of apps that make money, I decided to jump in and join Gigwalk commonwealth.

Here’s everything you need to know about Gigwalk and whether it’s the right opportunity for you.

What is Gigwalk?

Gigwalk is a smartphone app that pays you to do small tasks (aka “Gigs”) based on your location. Companies looking for Gigwalkers are usually retail stores looking for brand audits or product feedback and product exposure.

Side note: Most concerts are available in USA and Canada; however, there are occasional concerts in countries such as India, Germany, France, Australia and the United Kingdom.

How do you become a gigwalker?

Becoming a gigwalker is extremely simple. Here are the steps:

  1. Find and download the Gigwalk app to your smartphone. It is available for both iOS and Android devices.
  2. Register your Gigwalk account easily. All you have to do is answer a few questions and provide your email address.
  3. Connect your PayPal account. This makes receiving payments quick and easy. (I got paid within 32 hours of my first gig.)

How does Gigwalk work?

One of the biggest advantages of Gigwalk is its flexibility. You decide if you want the concert or pass it for something else.

Another great feature is that you are not limited to just your hometown. You can also use the app’s “search this area” feature to see what’s outside of your general location.

Here’s an overview of how Gigwalk works:

  1. The concert is published in the Gigwalk app and displayed on the map. Each concert listing includes a payment amount, a short description, and a location. Miles are calculated based on your phone’s location.
  2. Search for gigs in your area that might be a good fit for you and sign up for the ones that interest you.
  3. Apply to the gig by clicking the “Apply to this gig” button.
  4. Sometimes the company may ask the screener before accepting you, for example, “Explain why you would be a good fit for this gig.”
  5. Once accepted, you will be notified and given instructions for the concert.
  6. When you’re done, submit your work through the Gigwalk app. You may need to answer a few follow-up questions.
  7. Wait for the business to approve and receive your payment, and once approved, the payment will be sent directly to your PayPal account!

What types of “gigs” will I be doing?

This is the fun part. Many of the jobs listed on Gigwalk are posted through retail stores looking to review displays or products on their shelves. However, they also have online gigs like website testing and surveys.

Shops basically want to verify the price, availability and terms of the product. Some other consumer brands or retailers will ensure that your marketing campaigns are done correctly and on time. You verify this by taking pictures of products, displays and events.

My first Gigwalk assignment was for a major retailer (Kohl’s) and I got it while taking my kids grocery shopping! I walked around and checked the app to see if anything had come up in our area. The store next to us had a Gig available so I jumped in and got it!

Gig asked me to take pictures of the mixer display and upload them to the app. All in all, the whole job took me five minutes – even with kids in tow!

How much money can I make as a gigwalker?

The very first gig I landed took me five minutes and paid $6. This included the time it took me to find the product, take photos and upload them. Not to mention I was out shopping with my kids.

Since it was quick and convenient, you can imagine how excited I was to earn that extra cash!

Overall, the amount of money you can make varies by venue and gig. On average, Gigwalkers can earn anywhere from $3 to $100 per individual task.

If you want to complete a significant number of gigs, the app tends to benefit those who live in larger cities like New York City, Los Angeles, Dallas, San Francisco, and so on. Not only are there more businesses, but you can get extra cash without necessarily worrying about the price of gas.

When will I get paid for the gigs?

Gigwalk clients are allowed up to 14 days to approve your work before an automatic payment arrives in your PayPal account.

However, I personally have never waited so long for a paycheck (at least not yet). PayPal payments are usually processed within 24-48 hours.

Gigwalk Tips and Tricks (Plus Benefits)

Some complaints about Gigwalk include issues with app connectivity and Gig availability. Here’s what I found as a Gigwalk user:

About Gigwalk connection issues

One way to resolve some app connection issues is to simply allow the app to locate your device.

I know that sometimes individuals are nervous about allowing apps or other devices to “know their location”, which I totally understand! But for apps like Gigwalk to work properly, that’s one fear (gulp) you’ll have to put aside.

Another tip: If you don’t want the app to know your exact location, you can always access the Gigwalk app while you’re away on vacation.

This way you can earn some money without revealing your hometown location to the app. Simply turn off location or delete the app before heading home!

I can tell you from experience that this can be a problem if you are looking for gigs in more rural areas.

On average, I see about 10 concerts in my area in two or three days. This number will vary depending on your location.

As mentioned earlier, the app has a “search this area” feature, so you can expand your hunt to gigs if that makes sense.

The key is to keep checking the app and expanding your search — especially if you’re out of town anyway.

Gigwalk tips

Here are some other Gigwalk tips we thought you should know.

Not all gigs require you to drive. Every now and then there will be remote gigs from companies looking for you check out their website.

When you try to accept gigs outside of your location, a pop-up will remind you that you’re more than a certain number of miles from your area and ask if you want to continue.

This great little feature will help ensure you’re ready to hit the gig that may be next.

If you live in the city, you can maximize the amount of money you make by playing gigs within blocks of each other.

Is Gigwalk a Scam?

Gigwalk is a legit mobile app 4.6 stars rating in the Apple App Store aa 3.2 stars rating in the Google Play Store.

They have too A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.

You must have realistic expectations when using the app. You won’t be making a full-time income, but it’s an easy way to add a little extra cash to your pocket.
